| The primary function of the Office of the Tax Collector is the preparation of tax bills on an annual basis for property owners and the collection of such, and sewer utility bills. Property taxes are calculated based on the assessed value of the property, multiplied by the tax rate. The assessed value is determined by the Tax Assessor. The tax rate is set and certified by the Union County Board of Taxation.
Taxes are payable by law, February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. A ten-day grace period is provided by resolution of the Township Committee, after which an 8 percent annual interest penalty is charged from the first day of the month when such payments are due and 18 percent on any amount in excess of $1,500.
