Mayor Michele Delisfort and the Township Committee are proud to announce the inaugural Pride Flag raising Ceremony The ceremony will be held on June 1st at 11:30 AM, followed by the flag raising at 12:00 P.M. by the front steps of the Township Municipal Building, located at 1976 Morris Ave. Union, NJ.
Alongside the Township Committee, Union resident Brian Cave, has volunteered his time to help plan and coordinate the flag raising ceremony.
The inclusive PRIDE flag, is a redesign of the original PRIDE flag with 2 added colors, which emphasis on inclusion and progression. The two new added stripes are black and brown to represent the LGBT communities of color. This flag was created by Philadelphia - based advertising and PR agency Tierney, for the #MoreColorMorePride 2017 campaign. The campaign was launched in honor of Pride Month, by the city’s office of LGBT Affairs to make strides toward becoming a truly inclusive community.
Following the ceremony, residents are invited to the downtown area where various Union Center SID merchants will be offering discounts and promotions that afternoon. Some participating merchants are;

This ceremony kicks off the start to Pride month, which encourages and promotes diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness, which the Township Committee is committed to stand by.
