Immigrant State: Jersey’s Influential Gate

Thursday, April 25, 2019

Presented by Dr. Carlos Ulises Decena (Associate Professor and Chair, Latino and Caribbean Studies, Rutgers University): New Jersey has a big story about immigration, packed into a small state! Through the examination of film clips, texts, and media coverage, participants will have a candid discussion about issues that are being examined and debated, nationally and in local communities. Come learn how our past shapes our collective future. This program is funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities and is part of our American Creed: Community Conversations series. American Creed: Community Conversations is a project of Citizen Film in partnership with the American Library Association and the National Writing Project, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Registration required; please contact the Adult Services department at the main library to sign up: 908-851-5450 ext. 2.
